Comparison with the first model
Compared to the first generation, the 797B has a larger payload and a more powerful engine. These changes satisfied the needs of workers in quarries and mines, as increased work efficiency and reduced costs, due to an increase in the amount of material transported per trip [2] .
The truck's carrying capacity was increased to 345 tons, an increase of 18.1 tons compared to the first generation 797. Caterpillar increased the output of the Cat 3524B EUI 24-cylinder diesel engine used in the 797 series from 3211 liters. from. (2394 kW) to a pure 3370 liters. from. (2513 kW), which allowed the 797B to reach 68 km / h. The maximum speed during transportation of 345 tons increased by 3.2 km / h, compared with the previous generation [3] .
