Etymology
The name probably comes from the Turkic jalym kaja - “steep rock” . Until the beginning of the 20th century, only the part of the river from the confluence of the Upper Olymchych to the mouth was called Olymchik . The section of the river from Berezovka of the Voronezh Region to the connection with Verkhny Olymchychik was called Berezovka . Now called Berezovka river, on which stands the village of Trinity .
Description
It originates in the village of Semenov ; there is a dam and a pond on the river. There is another pond a mile downstream.
The mouth is 3 kilometers west of the village of Uritskoye .
On the right slope of the river valley , one and a half kilometers above the mouth, sandstones are located on an area of 61,500 m². In this place the slopes are covered with steppe vegetation. There are rare plant species, below lies a special type of siliceous limestone, almost not found in natural outcrops of the Lipetsk region. In 1993, the “Sandstones of the Olymchyk River Valley” received the status of a landscape-geological nature monument of regional significance.
