Club History

Football club "B-36" began its performance back in 1935 , however, the official date for the creation of the club is considered March 28, 1936 . The main rival of B-36 is the HB club, since both teams represent the same city - the capital of the Torshavn Islands.

At the moment, the B-36 is inferior to the capital’s competitors in the number of trophies won in the local championship, which accounted for a total of 19 championships won and 25 national cup winner titles.

Faroe Islands football teams first took part in European club tournaments in 1992 , after the local football association became a member of UEFA in 1990 .

The 1991 season “B-36” finished in second place, and along with the league champion club “ KI ” from Klaksvik took part in the first European Cup tournament for Faroese teams.

As the current winner of the national cup “B-36” was to take part in the tournament among the holders of national trophies of European championships - in the Cup Winners Cup .

As a participant from the championship with a zero rating , the team started in the preliminary round . The rivals of the team went to the Luxembourg club Avenir from Beggen . Despite not the most formidable opponent, the B-36 was unable to overcome the excitement of starting in the European Cup tournament: the team lost 1–2 in the total of two matches (0: 1 away and 1: 1 at home ). The first ball in European competition was issued by striker Kari Reinheim .

In subsequent years, the “B-36” will repeatedly represent the local championship in the European arena, however, without much success. Only twice will the club be able to overcome the European Cup qualification barrier: with the Icelandic club IBV and Birkirkara from Malta .

In the 2005/06 season, as part of the UEFA Cup , B-36 celebrated its first victory in European competition in a duel with the IBV club from the Icelandic championship . Having drawn 1: 1 away, the team celebrated success in the second leg. On July 28, 2005, the B-36 won the Euro Cup match for the first time in its history at the Torsvollur National Stadium. And the very first victory brought the team success following the results of the entire confrontation: having won 2-1 , the club went to the next round. The winning goal on the account of midfielder Bergur Midord .

In the next round , the Danish Midtjylland went to the rivals. The fundamental rivalry with the eminent Danish club turned into a dramatic duel of teams. In the guest match at the SAS Arena , the team lost to the Danes with a score of 1: 2. A goal in the account of Inga Husted . On August 25, the B-36 hosted the Danish team at home. Having lost 1: 2 almost the entire match, however, club midfielder Allan Morkore scored a goal for the hosts in the 85th minute. For the final victory, it remained to hold two more goals, but the club failed to do so. The final defeat of 3: 4 with a minimum advantage of the Danes completed at that time the most successful performance of the club in European competition.

In the same year, “B-36” became the new champion of the country and, as the winner of the national championship, went to the most prestigious club tournament in Europe - the Champions League .

The club began the 2006/07 season in the Champions League as part of the first qualifying round . B-36 rivals got the Birkirkara club from Malta . The fight did not work: having defeated the opponent with a score of 3: 0 away, the teams exchanged scored goals for Torsvollur 2: 2. The final victory 5: 2 was the biggest victory of the club in European competition.

In the second round of the European Cup selection of lots in relation to the “B-36” was relentless: the rivals the team got the legendary Turkish “ Fenerbahce ”. The team could not make a decent resistance to the enemy, losing in all respects with a score of 0: 9 (0: 5 at home and 0: 4 away).

The club was doing well in the domestic championship. The team regularly took places in the top three, but could not get around HB in the number of trophies. In 1997, when publishing the official book on the history of the B-36 club, it borrowed a number of facts from the history of its rivals from HB, explaining that most of its own sources were lost. In subsequent years, clubs stubbornly fought for the rights to own the Gundadalur stadium, as the other stadium in the city of Torsvollur belongs to the national team , which is why both clubs are forced to share the arena with each other. Currently, the stadium is subordinate to the Torshavn administration.

The B-36 team has opened a number of famous players for the Faroe Islands . At different times, such famous players in the region as Yakup Mikkelsen , Frody Benyaminsen , Oli Johannesen , Yakup Borg , Odmar Fiero , Jens Christian Hansen , Jonas Thor Nes , Allan Morkore , Suni Olsen and others performed at the club.

But perhaps the most famous pupil of the team can be called Inga Husted , who in 2002 moved to the youth academy of London 's Arsenal , where he performed until 2005 . Having played a total of three years in the youth gunners' team, Höysted did not play a single match for the main team and did not even ever replace him. At the end of the contract, the player returned to B-36. After the season spent in the home championship, Hoystead again went to conquer the British Isles : the player was taken on a one-year lease to Birmingham City , but he did not play a single game there and returned back. As part of his native club, he took part in the European Cup draw in the 2005/06 season, where he distinguished himself in a guest meeting with the Danish club Midtjylland .

No less well-known footballer of the team Suni Olsen , who played two full seasons in the Danish Aalborg , where he was the main player of the team. After a one-year lease at Viborg , the player returned to his home championship, where he managed to play for the Vikingur , after which he again ended up in B-36. Olsen accounted for 53 international matches for the national team .

In addition to home-grown players, at different times football players from other European countries played in the club.

Very popular in the club came from Eastern Europe , such as Serbia , Hungary and Poland . In 2008, the team was joined by Serbian footballer Dmitry Jankovic and Tamas Nagy from Hungary . By that time, Brazilian legionnaire Alex dos Santos was already playing in B-36, because the number of legionnaires in the team increased to three.

In 2014, “B-36” for the tenth time in its history became the champion of the local championship, one point ahead of the main competitor “ HB ” from Torshavn . The team consisted of two legionnaires: Nigerian Adeshin Laval and Lukas Cheslevich from Poland . By that time, the Pole had experience performing in the Danish clubs Brondby and Hvidovre , after which he moved to B-36. Lukash’s father, Robert Cheslevich, previously played in the local championship for the IF and WB Vagur clubs. In the footsteps of father and brother, the youngest representative of the family Adrian Cheslevich , who joined his brother in “B-36” in the same year, will follow. However, having played only three matches per team, Adrian will move to Welsh New Saints .

In 2015, B-36 won its eleventh league title. For the first time in history, the team won the national championship for two consecutive years.
