Institute of Foreign Service

Foreign Service Institute Foreign Service Institute - located in Arlington , Virginia in the building of the National Training Center for Foreign Affairs. George P. Schultz ( Eng. George P. Shultz National Foreign Affairs Training Center ). He became the main educational institution for US diplomats to replace the previously existing Foreign Service School , founded in 1924.

The institute was founded on March 13, 1947 in accordance with the Foreign Service Act of 1946, passed by the US Congress. The position of director of the institute's rank is equivalent to the Assistant Secretary of State who personally appoints the director.

The Institute compiles and teaches foreign language courses for diplomats. Detailed audio courses of various languages, both European and “exotic” ( Cantonese , Hausa , Igbo , Twi , various dialects of Arabic ) are available openly.
