Biography
Born in the family of an army captain.
September 16, 1866 he was enrolled as an inmate in the Naval Cadet Corps and in 1867 he was enlisted in active service. In the years 1867-1870, annually participated in training voyages along the Gulf of Finland and the Baltic Sea on the ships of the Marine Corps Squad. April 11, 1870 he graduated from the Marine Corps with the assignment of the title of midshipman .
- 1870-1872 - Participated in voyages on the frigate " Peresvet ", clipper " Abrek ", schooner " Tunguz ".
- April 16, 1872 - Michman (by seniority April 11, 1872).
- 1873-1875 - Participated in voyages on the Admiral Greig and Admiral Chichagov frigates, on the Firstborn battery, on the Griden corvette. On January 1, 1876, Vasily Zatsarenny was promoted to lieutenant and, in the same year, participated in voyages on the Typhon and Perun monitors and on the Volga steamer.
- January 10, 1877 - He was sentenced by the Special Commission on the Ilmen steamer to imprisonment in the fortress for 4 months for failure to comply with the order of a senior officer and violation of military ordering.
After the outbreak of the Russo-Turkish war, Zaretsenny was sent on September 19, 1877 to accompany the teams transferred from the Baltic to the Black Sea Fleet, and on November 19 was transferred to the Black Sea Fleet . From October 21, 1877 to March 20, 1878 he was on a boat of the Chief Commander of the Black Sea Fleet and ports as part of the Nizhnedunaysky detachment of Captain 1st Rank Kaznakov , and from April 1, 1878 to September 9, 1879 - on the boat "Bird" No. 6, guarding the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus . From May 16 to August 24, 1895 Zatsarenny was in charge of the 6th naval crew. On March 21 of the following year, he was enlisted as a first-class mine officer. In 1896-1897, Vasily Maximovich on ships of the practical squadron and training artillery detachment sailed in the Gulf of Finland and the Baltic Sea. On December 6, 1897, Zatsarenny was appointed commander of the coastal defense battleship Admiral Greig and awarded the Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree . As part of the ships of the training artillery detachment, he sailed in the Gulf of Finland. On August 27, 1898 he was appointed head of the school of engine drivers and stokers. On December 6 of the same year, he was promoted to captain of the 1st rank. From July 7 to September 26, 1899 he was in charge of the minosocks of the 6th naval crew and their teams. On October 5 of the same year he was appointed commander of the Caspian Navy crew. On December 13, 1899, at the request of the Chief Commander of the Kronstadt Port, he received the most gracious request not to consider the penalty incurred in 1877 as an obstacle to receiving the Order of St. Vladimir 4th degree with a bow for long service and naval campaigns. From January 10, 1900 to November 25, 1901, with interruptions, he temporarily served as director of the lighthouses and missions of the Caspian Sea and the chief commander of the Baku port. On September 22, 1900 he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree with a bow for 25 years of service in officer ranks. December 6, 1901 was appointed commander of the squadron battleship " Victory " and the 19th naval crew. On March 20, 1902, he was appointed chairman of the Commission for examinations for officers and lower ranks trained at the Diving School, and on April 2 of the same year, he was appointed chairman of the Commission for examinations for lower ranks for the rank of senior boatswain, conductors, schipper, senior battalion, senior mine artillery and machine holders. On August 12, 1902 he was awarded the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle of the 2nd degree , and on December 6 of the same year he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 3rd degree . From October 31, 1902 to April 21, 1903 on the battleship "Victory" moved to Port Arthur .
On January 26 and 27, 1904 he participated in battles with the Japanese fleet, for which on March 22 of the same year he was awarded swords to the Order of St. Vladimir of the 3rd degree. In June, Zatsarenny temporarily surrendered command of an armadillo due to a disease of tropical fever. July 28, he commanded an armadillo during a battle in the Yellow Sea . After the surrender, Port Arthur was in Japanese captivity, from which he returned to his homeland on May 23, 1905.
On November 10, 1905 he was appointed Chairman of the Commission to consider claims for contracts and supplies made for Port Arthur. On December 12 of the same year, “for distinction against the enemy near Port Arthur” he was awarded a gold saber with the inscription “For courage”. On January 2, 1906, Zatsarenny was appointed correcting the position of commander of the Nikolaev port and mayor of the city of Nikolaev . On July 27, 1906, "for the difference in cases against the enemy," he was promoted to Rear Admiral with approval in his posts. October 20, 1907 was appointed interim governor-general of the city of Nikolaev. On November 16 of the same year, in order to unite and accelerate all orders concerning the assistance of troops to the civilian forces, Rear Admiral was appointed commander of the Kherson garrison. On April 13, 1908 he was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav of the 1st degree , and on April 28 of the same year, the Greek Order of the Savior of the Commander's Cross .
October 22, 1909 Zatsarenny was promoted to the rank of vice admiral with the appointment of a member of the Admiralty Council . April 14, 1913 was promoted to admiral . For excellent performance of his duties, the Admiral was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 2nd degree on December 6 of that year, and on July 30, 1915 the Order of the White Eagle and in the same year the distinction of “50 years of immaculate service” on the St. George ribbon.
After six years of service as a member of the Admiralty Council, Vasily Maksimovich was dismissed.
They are dismissed from service: after the expiration of the six-year statutory period of stay in the Admiralty Council: members of the Admiralty Council, admirals: Reicenshtein and Zatsarenny, both with uniform and pension.
