Player Career
At the age of 18, Vicente Del Bosque ended up in Real Madrid , which was facilitated by club president Santiago Bernabeu . However, he did not get into the first team right away, having spent several seasons on lease, having retrained at that time from the striker to the central midfielder. Only in 1973, Del Bosque began to steadily advocate for Real. In the “Royal Club” Vicente spent 11 years, having spent 339 matches for the club and winning nine trophies. As a player, he was distinguished by good dribbling and intransigence in martial arts. Over the years in the team, the Spaniard has earned great respect from partners and fans.
In the Spanish national team, Del Bosque only occasionally entered the field at the base or for a substitution, however, this did not prevent him from getting into the team's application for Euro 1980 .
Coach Career
While still a player, Del Bosque received a coaching license and after completing a playing career in 1984 began working with the Real Madrid youth team, periodically entering the coaching staff of the main team. In 1994, Del Bosque for the first time temporarily stood at the helm of the main, leading her for three months. Once again, he happened to be a temporary head coach in 1996, this time leading the team in only one match.
After the dismissal of John Toshak in November 1999, the team decided to entrust Del Bosque, this time on an ongoing basis. At that time, “Real” was in eighth place in the Example and Vicente was not able to significantly improve its tournament position (final fifth place). However, the performance in the Champions League ended for the creamy “triumph”: in the playoffs of the tournament, Del Bosque's wards beat Manchester United and Bayern (finalists of the previous tournament) one by one, and in the final, Valencia was defeated . The next season, “Real” after a four-year break managed to become the champion of Spain, but in the Champions League stopped at the stage of the semi-finals.
In 2000, Florentino Perez became president of Real Madrid, who will soon strengthen the team with stars of the first magnitude: Luis Figo , Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo . Del Bosque managed to rally the star team into one team and find an approach to each of the stars. In 2002, Del Bosque led the Madrid team to a victory in the Champions League for the second time, having beaten out their main rival Barcelona in the semifinals, and in the final, this time with a score of 2: 1, German Bayer 04 was beaten. The following season, Real Madrid regained the league title (it finished third in the previous season), and also won the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup . Decently “creamy” also played in the Champions League, once again reaching the semi-finals of the tournament and in a bitter struggle losing to Juventus . Probably this fact caused Perez's discontent and at the end of the season Del Bosque was dismissed from his post, leaving the club, which gave 36 years of life.
After a year break, Del Bosque returned to coaching, leading the Turkish Besiktas , where he worked for only six months, after which he was dismissed for unsatisfactory results. In 2006, he was offered to become a coach of the Mexican national team with a salary of $ 2 million, but Vicente refused. At that time, there were elections for the president of Real Madrid and Del Bosque expected the victory of Juan Palacio and was ready to continue coaching the club, but Ramon Calderon won, which forced Vicente to refuse to return to Real Madrid.
After Euro 2008, Del Bosque replaced the retired head coach Luis Aragones in the Spanish national team [4] . The debut in the national team took place on September 6, 2008 in a match against Bosnia and Herzegovina [5] , where Del Bosque squad won with a minimal margin of 1: 0 [6] . On July 11, 2010, the Spanish national team led by del Bosque became the 2010 world champion in South Africa , defeating the Netherlands national team in the final with a score of 1-0 in extra time [7] . Del Bosque also led the team at Euro 2012 , where the “red fury” again won gold medals, defeating the Italian team in the final with a score of 4: 0. Since 2010, the team led by him did not know defeats in official matches, and the duration of the unique achievement was 29 games [8] . In addition, in the playoffs of two winning tournaments, the Spaniards did not miss a single goal, scoring six out of seven victories (only one match was won in the penalty shootout).
After that, the results of the national team deteriorated sharply: the 2013 Confederations Cup final was lost to the Brazilian national team (0: 3); at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the Spanish team failed to leave the group - it lost to the Netherlands team (1: 5) and the Chilean team (0: 2); at Euro 2016, Spain lost to Italy in the 1/8 finals (0: 2). July 1, 2016, Vicente Del Bosque announced that he intends to resign and end his coaching career [9] .
Vicente Del Bosque became the only coach who managed to win the Champions League (2 times), the World Cup and the European Championship as head coach. In addition, he won the championship of Spain, the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup. .
