King of Bhutan is the head of state of Bhutan. The state of Bhutan was founded by the Buddhist monk Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in the middle of the 17th century. According to his will, after his death, a dual power regime was introduced in the country. The country was ruled by a civilian leader ( Druk Desi ) and a religious leader ( Je Khempo ), but both under nominal control of the Tibetan lama. True Lama, or Shadbrung was a child, and a civilian leader (Druk Desi or Debu Raja, in the original: sde-srid phyag-mdzod) had actual power over him.
