The Victoria Memorial , located in Calcutta, is a memorial to the British Queen Victoria , who also bore the title of Empress of India . Currently used as a museum , being one of the tourist attractions of Calcutta.

The memorial plan was developed by Sir William Emerson ; the building is like the building of the Belfast Town Hall [1] . The building was supposed to be in the style of the Italian Renaissance , but the architect introduced some oriental elements into the composition.

The building was erected in the period from 1906 to 1921 [2] . Around the bright white memorial are many gardens. The memorial is crowned with a bronze statue of the “ Angel of Victoria ”.
