Genomic DNA - DNA , which is part of the genome, as opposed to extrachromosomal DNA like plasmids . Genomic DNA is often shortened as gDNA (gDNA) [1] .
The genome of the body contains information about heredity, and passes such information from generation to generation. The genome is transcribed into RNA , which are necessary for the life of the body. Some RNAs are processed , spliced (in this case, introns are cut out and mature mRNA is formed ). Mature mRNA is then translated on the ribosomes into proteins.
