Content
Construction
PP-91 has an extremely simple and technological design [2] .
Automatic submachine gun based on the use of recoil energy free shutter . Trigger trigger type, which allows shooting in single and automatic mode. The supply of cartridges is carried out from the double-row box magazine. To increase stability when shooting a submachine gun equipped with a shoulder rest, folding over the receiver.
The receiver of a rectangular shape, stamped from steel sheet, has a removable cover. The barrel 120 mm long is rigidly fixed in the receiver, to which the pistol grip, magazine receiver and folding butt are attached. Sights open. The front sight is mounted on the trunk at the front wall of the receiver, the pillar is mounted on top of the hinged butt mount. When the butt is folded back into the working position, the diopter pillar is rotated, when the butt is folded to the stowed position, the open pillar is rotated. The gun can be mounted silencer BK-09 and laser designator "Pion-M".
Before the shot, the bolt of the submachine gun under the action of the return spring takes the most forward position. When fired, the powder gases acting on the bottom of the sleeve move the massive bolt to the rearmost position. In this case, the bolt removes the cartridge case from the chamber and throws it out of the receiver, cocks and squeezes the return spring. In the forward position, the shutter rolls under the action of the return mechanism. At the same time, he will send another cartridge to the chamber and lock the barrel. Locking is carried out due to the inertia of the shutter and the force of the return spring. When the fuse-translator is set to automatic shooting, it will continue as long as the trigger is pressed and the magazine has cartridges. When installing the fuse-translator for single shooting, after each shot, you must release the trigger and press the button again to fire the shot.
Variants and modifications
- submachine gun PP-71 - a prototype, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense in the framework of the Bouquet design and development program and tested in 1969-1972. Serially not produced.

It features improved ballistics (due to a more powerful cartridge), increased shutter mass and the presence of helical grooves in the chamber.

Visually, it is distinguished by a light (white) cover of the receiver, so that law enforcement officers can visually distinguish service weapons from combat weapons. Also mounted on the barrel pin for obstructing the installation on the barrel devices silent and flameless shooting. In addition, PKSK does not have an automatic fire mode, and the magazine is shortened to 10 rounds.
