Biography
In the late 1980s, he moved to New York to study art, but soon became a club musician.
Thay began his musical career with remixes of Jungle Brothers tracks from their album Done by the Forces of Nature (1989).
Since 1990, under the pseudonym “DJ Towa Towa,” he has been a member of the New York trio Deee-Lite , who gained worldwide fame for his hit “Groove Is In the Heart”.
In 1991, Tova Tey and Deee-Lite member Dmitry Brill (pseudonym "Super DJ Dmitry") worked with Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto on "Rap the World".
After the release of two albums - World Clique (1990) and Infinity Within (1992), Tova Tay left the band and began a solo career. His debut album, Future Listening! (1995), combined elements of bossanova, jazz and electronic dance music. The second album Sound Museum (1998) was recorded with the participation of Kylie Minogue ; the composition with her participation “GBI: German Bold Italic” reached # 20 in Japan and # 63 in the UK. Also, Bebel Gilberto took part in the recording of the album. In 1999, the next album, Last Century Modern , was recorded.
In 2005, Tova Tey released the Flash album and another single featuring Kylie Minogue, “Sometime Samurai,” which became # 6 in Japan.
