After the collapse of the USSR, Moldova got 32 [7] (according to other sources 34 [8] ) http://www.airbase.ru/ of the MiG-29 fighter of the 86th Guards Fighter Regiment of the Black Sea Fleet of the USSR (Markulesti airfield), which after the collapse of the USSR came under the jurisdiction of Moldova .
- June 23, 1992 - 1 aircraft at the request of the Transnistrian side was shot down during the Transnistrian conflict [9] . Moldovan authorities deny the incident, claiming only damage to the aircraft.
- 1992 - 1 Moldavian aircraft ceded to Romania . The documents do not include the price of the aircraft. According to the chairman of the special parliamentary commission, Yuri Stoikov [10] , the former high-ranking Moldovan military admitted that the plane was ceded "on account of the debts of Moldova to Romania for their assistance during the 1992 military conflict ."
- 1994 - 4 aircraft sold to the Republic of Yemen [11] .
- 1997 - 21 aircraft (of which only 6 are suitable for flights) sold by the United States . On January 17, 2005, former Minister of Defense Valeriu Pasat was sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling aircraft to the United States . He was accused of losing more than 50 million dollars as a result of this transaction [12] .
As of 2007, 6 MiG-29 fighters remained at the airfield in Marculesti. Everything is in working condition [13] .
- In September 2010, Moldova announced its intention to sell the last six MiG-29 fighters still in service with it. In the case “if there is no buyer for the MiG-29 , they will be disposed of” [14] . There were no direct buyers.
- In March 2011, Moldova put up for sale six remaining MiG-29 fighters for sale, at a total starting price of $ 8.5 million. Moldovan Defense Minister Vitaly Marinuta told reporters in Chisinau, noting that the aircraft sale auction was announced due to the fact that they could not be sold through direct negotiations. The auction for the sale of MiG-29 fighters was to be held on November 30, 2011 at Marculesti International Airport. The fee for participation in the auction is 3 thousand dollars. In addition, bidders must pay a deposit of 10% of the initial value of the lot. The head of the Moldovan Ministry of Defense noted that the MiG-29 planes put up for sale are in a non-flying state and need repair, which is estimated at about $ 30 million. Due to the absence of buyers, the auction did not take place.
- In August 2012, Moldova once again put up for sale for sale the six remaining MiG-29 fighters at the previous starting price of $ 8.5 million. No one wanted to buy the aircraft, the auction was canceled. The new auction will be announced after the meeting of the profile commission, the date of its holding has not yet been appointed.
According to representatives of the Ministry of Defense, in the absence of interest from potential buyers, the price of airplanes can be reduced to 50 percent.
