Euripont ( Ionich . Evrifon , another transcription of Euripont, ancient Greek Εὐρυπῶν , or Eurytion , Εὐρῠτίων ) is the half-legendary king of Sparta . Son of Proclus [1] or Soy [2] . From it the dynasty of the Spartan kings ( Euripontides , or Eurypontids) is named.

According to Plutarch , he first began to curry favor with the crowd, weakening the royal power [3] . He fought with the , from whom he demanded to expel the killers of his co-ruler Agis I , which caused discord among the enemies and seized Mantinea [4] .
