Quarter session - the period during which justice was administered in the courts of England . The presence of such a period is characteristic of all ships in England, with the exception of world courts. During this period, which happens four times a year, the courts examined the cases to be brought before them.
The history of quarterly sessions in England can be traced back to 1327, since the reign of Edward III . They existed until 1971, when, in accordance with the Courts Act ( en: Courts Act 1971 ), quarterly sessions were abolished with the transfer of their powers to the Crown Court ( en: Crown Court ).
