Stefano Marzano ( Italian: Stephano Marzano , born in 1950) is an Italian designer .
Stefano Marzano graduated from the Technical University of Milan with a doctorate in architecture. He began his career in Philips in 1973 in Italy with work on projects in the department of large household appliances; Since 1978, he has been working as the head of Philips Data Systems and Telecommunications Product Design in the Netherlands; In 1982 he returned to Italy to head the Philips-Ire design center (large household appliances).
From January 2012 to the end of 2013, he held the position of chief designer at Electrolux .
From 1991 to 2011, he was the chief designer and CEO of Philips Design , the unit responsible for all Philips designs.
From 1989-1991, Stefano was vice president of corporate industrial design at Whirlpool International (a joint venture between Whirlpool and Philips). Stefano Marzano has been with Philips Design since 1991.
In 1998, Design Zentrum (Germany) recognized Philips Design as the best design team of the year. In 2001, Stefano Marzano received the World Technology Network Design Award. In 2005, the weekly Business Week recognized Stefano and Philips Design as one of the 38 Best Leaders. [2] Products developed under the direction of Stefano Marzano can be found in museums around the world.
In addition to working at Philips, Stefano Marzano pays great attention to design education. Until 1998, he was a professor at the Domus Academy (Milan, Italy) and a member of the Academy's Strategy Council. In 1999-2001 he was a visiting professor at the Faculty of Design of the Polytechnic Institute in Milan. Stefano also took an active part in the creation of the Faculty of Industrial Design at the Technical University of Eindhoven (Netherlands), whose supervisory board he is currently chairing. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Design Management in Boston (USA) and the Advisory Board of Design Management of the University of Westminster (Great Britain). He regularly serves on the jury at international design competitions.
Stefano Marzano is the author and editor of several books describing the work of Philips Design and the philosophy on which it is based, as well as many publications on design issues. He is extremely sought after as a speaker on issues of present and future design and design management at international conferences on design, business and technology.
