Borgo ( ital. Borgo ) - the area of Rome , located from the Vatican Palace to the Castle of the Holy Angel . The name comes from it. Burg in the meaning of "city", which became ital. Borgo . During the construction of Via della Conciliazione in 1936-1950, the medieval buildings of the area in which there were shelters for pilgrims from all over the world were destroyed. The coat of arms of Borgo depicts a lying lion in front of a mountain above which a star stands. The lion is the symbol of Pope Leo IV , who built the Civitas Leonina , as well as Pope Sixt V , who incorporated Borgo into the city.
