In the creative practice of the theater two lines are organically combined: traditionally European and national. Over the years, more than 200 performances have been created.

Content

History

Soviet period

September 20, 1944 by decision of the Bureau of the Chuvash regional committee of the CPSU (b) opened the Chuvash Puppet Theater [1] .

For some time, the theater was located in the building of the former Holy Trinity Monastery [2] . On April 15, 1945 , the premiere of the play “Three Girlfriends” based on a play by the founder of the theater, its first director and artistic director, director S. M. Merzlyakov took place . This day is considered the day of the theater.

In 1951, the theater was liquidated , but the puppet brigade continued to work at the Chuvash State Philharmonic . Under the direction of M.K. Antonov, a student of S.V. Obraztsov , the theater resumed operations in 1958 .

Post-Soviet period

In 1991, the theater was transferred to a building located in Building 15 on Presidential Boulevard .
