Achievements
The trainer of Valery Petrovich Sharia was Pavel Yakovlevich Zubrilin , who set the goal for the athlete to become an Olympic champion. Under the leadership of coach Zubrilin, Valery Shariy defended the standard of the master of sports and ended up in the national team. He never argued with the coach and always followed his instructions. At the beginning of the sports career of Valery Sharia, Pavel Zubrilin predicted great prospects for him. Under the guidance of a trainer, Valery Shariy won the title of champion of the country among youth. Pavel Zubrilin also solved the athlete’s everyday problems: when Valery Sharia was not included in the Armed Forces team before the tournament in Tallinn and he could not live in a hotel like other athletes, the trainer ensured that his ward was accommodated in an ordinary barracks. On May 14, 1972, at the Salute Sports Palace in Moscow, Shary shook the world: three world records and one all-union record! The amount of triathlon caused delight, amazement - 527.5 kg. By 12.5 kg, the amount exceeded the world achievement set a month ago. This brought Valery a ticket to Munich and real chances of winning. However, at the Olympics 72, two Soviet middleweights (the second - Pavlov) received zero marks in the bench press. Valery Sharia's world record in triathlon remained forever, since triathlon was soon canceled.
