African Latino

African-Latin Americans ( Spanish: Afro-Latino , also “preto”, “negro”, “pardo”) are the inhabitants of Latin America , having a physiologically noticeable Negro origin. Unlike African-Americans in the United States , who were forced to maintain a largely isolated lifestyle, Afro-Latinos largely lost or significantly modified the culture of their ancestors , and are now associated with linguistic and cultural elements typical of the entire population of Latin America as a whole. On the other hand, white Hispanics , unlike US white Americans, have learned many elements of African and Native American cultures. Such a mixture of races ( mestisation ) is a typical phenomenon in all countries of Latin America, where the so-called rule of one drop of blood has not been applied in practice, and therefore the majority of the population has some kind of admixture of African blood, although outwardly Negroid features may be poorly noticeable. In Latin America itself, the term African-Latin Americans are usually not used outside the narrow academic circles involved in the study of international history.
