Story

The Ossetian prince adopts a girl thrown to him (Fatima), who grows up in his family and becomes the object of love for his son Dzhambulat, as well as the farm laborer Ibrahim, who is forced to hide his feelings. After the outbreak of war with the Turks, Dzhambulat goes to war and disappears, and a few years later Fatima, having rejected many suitors, decides to marry Ibrahim. Her marriage develops happily, but Dzhambulat unexpectedly returns seven years later from Turkish captivity and demands that Fatima leave Ibrahim, and when she refuses, she will be killed at night with a shot in the back. At the end of the film, Fatima, having learned about the murder of Ibrahim Dzhambulat, goes crazy, begins to beat the child. The child of Ibrahim and Fatima, a little Dzhambulat, is taken with him to Vladikavkaz by a Russian engineer.

Morality

The moral of the film is upbringing. If a child hears from childhood “You are a prince, and he is a slave”, his worldview allows him to neglect common sense. All people are equal. Nationality, title, religion, nothing makes one person better than another. With our life, our actions, each of us makes this world better or worse. Dzhambulat acted as education allowed him. The upbringing given to him by his father, who accepted death, not wanting to come to terms with his daughter’s will. Sometimes, without attaching importance to small things, in our opinion, our actions are destructive, not at the moment, maybe not with us, but destruction will happen. So blind, selfish education, stated at the very beginning of the film, led to the destruction of the family, honor, reason, and ultimately fate.
