The Veteran of Service Medal is the departmental medal of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation , established by order of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service in March 2004 .

Award Rules
According to the Regulation, the Veteran of Service medal is awarded to servicemen of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, who have flawlessly served 25 or more years in calendar terms, of which, as a rule, at least 10 years are awarded to PSU-KGB-SVR of Russia.
Medal Description
The medal is made of silver plated tombac and is a circle with a diameter of 32 mm, bordered by a side.
On the obverse of the medal is a relief image of a figured shield , in the middle of which a sword is located vertically, point down. A five-pointed star of the SVR emblem formed by shtral is placed on the shield, in the center of which is a convex, yellow metal image of the continents with the surface of the seas and oceans covered with blue enamel , through which schematic parallels and meridians are applied with blue enamel. Outside the meridian’s grid in a dark red circle there is a gold inscription: “FOR EXPLORATION SERVICE”; in the lower part there is an inscription: “SVR”, separated from the main one by three dividing stars of yellow metal. At the bottom of the medal is the inscription: “SERVICE VETERAN” . On the reverse side of the coin, in the center, there is an inscription in five lines: “EXTERNAL EXPLORATION SERVICE OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION” , around the circumference - a wreath of laurel branches. The obverse of the medal is oxidized, the reverse is matte.
The medal is connected with an eye and a ring to a pentagonal block covered with a silk moire ribbon 24 mm wide.
