Aleksander Pavlovich Ragulin ( May 5, 1941 , Moscow , RSFSR , USSR - November 17, 2004 , ibid., Russia ) - Soviet hockey player , Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1963). The sports nickname is β€œSan Palych” (Canadians called Ragulin β€œbig Rag”). He won the largest number of medals among all hockey players (22) at the ZOI , world and European championships.

Biography

Father, Pavel Nikolayevich Ragulin (1907-1991) - architect, son of Nikolai Ivanovich Ragulin (1879-1960), engineer, and Anna Georgievna (Grigoryevna) Ragulin (1882-1965), housewives. Mother, Sofya Viktorovna Ragulina (Glushkova) (1904-1990) - architect, daughter of Viktor G. Glushkov (1883-1937), hydrologist, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, academician VASKHNIL, participant in the preparation of the GOELRO plan , and Zinaida Zakharovna Glushkova (1885β€” 1968).

Twin brothers: Ragulin Anatoly Pavlovich (1941–2016) - a sports instructor, taught classes in the cosmonaut squad, USSR master of sports of the international class , honored trainer of the USSR [2] - and Ragulin Mikhail Pavlovich (b. 1941) floorball , USSR master of sports of international class ..

Wife - Ragulina Olga Yuryevna (b.1949), divorced in the late 80s, works in the Russian Hockey Veterans Association. Son - Anton Alexandrovich (b. 1969; entrepreneur). Granddaughters: Ragulina Victoria Antonovna (born in 1997) and Ragulina Ekaterina Antonovna (born in 2000).

Game career

The player of the Sunday β€œChemist” (1957–62) and Moscow CSKA (1962–73). He joined CSKA of his own free will, having previously asked for advice from partners in the Chemist. After some time, Alexander’s brothers also moved to CSKA [3] .

Three-time Olympic champion (1964, 1968, 1972), 10-time world champion (1963-1971, 1973), 9-time European champion (1963-1970, 1973) and the USSR (1963-1966, 1968, 1970-1973), the best defender of the World Cup 1966, a participant in the legendary USSR super series - Canada 1972 .

Second prize-winner of the 1972 World Cup, third prize-winner of the 1961 World Cup. Silver medalist of the USSR championships 1967, 1969.

In the championships of the USSR, Ragulin played 427 matches and scored 63 goals. At the World Championships, Europe and the Olympic Games as part of the USSR national team, he played 102 matches, scored 14 goals.

He was on the list of 34 best hockey players of the USSR in 1964.

He graduated from the Moscow Regional Pedagogical Institute (1966), a teacher.

Upon completion

At the end of his career, he became a trainer at the CSKA junior school, where he worked for four years. Later coached the Novosibirsk SKA. He completed his coaching career in 1986, when he retired from the army. He was engaged in business for some time.

In recent years, he participated in work with veterans of domestic hockey - the president of the regional sports public organization "Hockey Veterans". He worked as part of the Presidential Council on Physical Culture and Sports.

In 1997, he was among the first to enter the IIHF Hall of Fame . In 2004, he was elected to the Domestic Hockey Hall of Fame.

 

He died on the night of November 18, 2004 in the hospital to them. Burdenko. He was buried in Moscow at the Vagankovsky cemetery .
