Biography
Zhdanov began his football career in the class B team of Azovstal . In the same 1962, at the invitation of Oleg Oshenkov, he transferred to Shakhtar Donetsk . It was at Shakhtar that one of the club’s coaches, Ivan Pavlovich Boboshko, showed the Khmelnytskyi trick, which later became the player’s crown trick — a header with a head in a low flying ball in a fish jump [4] .
Two years later, due to the insistent desire of CSKA to take the player to the team, he decided to move to Dynamo Kiev . He played for the team in 1965-1972, became the four-time champion of the USSR.
For the USSR national team in 1965-1971 he played 20 matches, scored 7 goals. Participant in the 1970 World Cup . I didn’t get to the World Cup 66 , because coach N. Morozov was not suitable for tactical constructions. Instead of Khmelnitsky, the team took another Dynamo Kyiv player - Valery Porkuyan .
A participant in the farewell match L. Yashin , the author of the first goal of the USSR national team in the game.
He worked as the head coach of the team "Granite" (Cherkasy) (1973-1974) and " Kryvbas " (1978-1979). He was a coach at the football school of Dynamo Kyiv.
Famous pupils of Khmelnitsky - Sergey Zayets , Yuri Dmitrulin , Ilya Tsymbalar .
He died on February 13, 2019 at the 76th year of his life in Kiev [5] .
