The medal "For excellence in military service" is the departmental medal of the Federal Security Service of Russia , established by order of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation No. 391 of December 5, 1997 .

Content

Award Rules

According to the Regulation, the medal “For Distinction in Military Service” is awarded to servicemen of the Federal Security Service of Russia for conscientious service who have the corresponding length of service in calendar terms.

The medal consists of three degrees:

  • I degree - for rewarding servicemen who have been in military service for at least 20 years;
  • II degree - for rewarding military personnel who have been in military service for at least 15 years;
  • III degree - for rewarding servicemen who have been in military service for at least 10 years.

The highest degree of the medal is I degree. Awarding the medal is carried out sequentially from the lowest to highest. Awarding a higher degree medal is not allowed without the award of a previous degree.

Wear Rules

The medal is worn on the left side of the chest and is located in front of the medals "For Impeccable Service" in the Armed Forces of the USSR . If the awarded medals have two or more degrees, the medals of the lower degrees are not worn.

Medal Description

A medal of the 1st degree is made of a nickel silver with enamel coating, of the 2nd degree - of silver-plated brass , of the 3rd degree - of brass; has a circle shape with a diameter of 32 mm with a convex rim on both sides. On the front side of the coin is a relief image of the emblem of the Federal Security Service of Russia - a two-headed eagle with wings down. On the eagle’s chest is a heraldic shield , superimposed on a vertically placed sword with its tip pointed down. The shield is supported by the paws of an eagle and has a field of colors of the State flag of the Russian Federation (on medals of the II and III degrees the colors of the State flag of the Russian Federation have a common medal color and are shown in heraldic hatching, on the medals of the first degree the colors of the State flag of the Russian Federation are enameled). Along the top edge of the coin is the inscription “FOR DIFFERENCE IN MILITARY SERVICE” . Bottom and sides of the medal along its edges is an image of laurel and oak branches, in the middle of which a Roman numeral is depicted in the frame, depicting the degree of the medal - I, II or III. On the back of the medal is the inscription “FEDERAL SERVICE OF THE GUARD OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION” , on the bottom and on the sides of the medal along its edges is an image of laurel branches. All images and inscriptions on the medal are convex.

The medal is connected with an eye and a ring to a pentagonal block covered with a red silk moire ribbon 24 mm wide with yellow stripes at the edges; there are green stripes in the middle of the ribbon: for a medal of the I degree - one strip, II degree - two stripes, III degree - three stripes; the strip width is 2 mm, the distance between the green stripes is 2 mm.
