History
The Krasnodar Regional Exhibition Hall of Fine Arts was opened in 1989 on the ground floor of a residential apartment building at ul. Rashpilevskaya 32. The exposition area of the exhibition hall is 1100 square meters. m. From 60 to 80 exhibitions are organized annually - international, regional, regional, city, group, personal, as well as art projects and events.
Exhibition gallery owner Marat Gelman "ICONS"
May 15, 2012 in the Krasnodar Regional Exhibition Hall was to open an exhibition gallery owner Marat Gelman "Icons" [1] . On May 8, the head of the Krasnodar Territory addressed Bishop Kirill (Pokrovsky) of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk with an open letter, calling for a ban on “criminal activity in the region entrusted to you” [2] . On May 12, in Krasnodar, citizens rallied and Krasnodar residents received deputies of the regional Legislative Assembly in order to protest the opening of this exhibition in Krasnodar [2] . The Ekaterinodar and Kuban dioceses also opposed the opening of this exhibition [3] .
On May 12, it became known that the Public Council on Ethics at the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnodar Territory intends to instruct experts to study on the subject of morality the works that Marat Gelman is going to present at exhibitions in Krasnodar [4] .
A few hours before the opening of the exhibition, the police received a call about the bomb [5] . At the entrance to the exhibition hall are protesting Cossacks , Orthodox , representatives of the Communist Party and LDPR parties [5] . In the crowd of protesters, signatures were collected in a folder with the inscription “Against Gelman from the inhabitants of Krasnodar” and shouted the slogan: “Gelman out of the Kuban!” [5] . Outraged by the fact that an exhibition of the famous gallery owner was organized in the center of Krasnodar, they started a mass brawl [6] . Opening of the exhibition at the appointed time did not take place due to violent protests of the Cossack and Orthodox public [7] . Gelman himself, who was present at the entrance to the exhibition hall, was beaten [8] . The local police department said: "One of the participants in the protest rally asked Gelman to take off his sunglasses, he refused, and the man tried to do it himself, pushing the gallery owner away" [8] .
Collection
The Krasnodar Regional Exhibition Hall of Fine Arts is actively engaged in the formation of its own collection, which includes paintings, graphic works, sculpture, works of decorative and applied art by the authors of southern Russia. The funds of the exhibition hall by 2007 totaled 370 items - the works of leading artists of the Kuban and young authors, diverse in style, imagery, theme.
