The development of the helicopter has been carried out since the late 1980s by the Eurocopter consortium (currently Airbus Helicopters). October 15, 1988 made the first flight of the technological prototype No. D-HBOX, equipped with a pair of Rolls-Royce 250-C20R engines. On February 15 and 16, 1994, the pre-production helicopters No. D-HECX and No. D-HECY with Turbomeca Arrius 2B and Pratt & Whitney Canada PW206B engines, respectively, made their first flight [1] .
Serial production began in 1996. By 2008, more than 650 helicopters were delivered. Helicopters are most widely used, in particular they are used in the Polish air ambulance service Lotnicze Pogotowie Ratunkowe [2] .
Built using composite materials. Available in several versions.
