The Chinese Tea House ( German: Chinesisches Haus ) is a garden pavilion in the park of Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam .

The construction was built by order of the Prussian King Frederick the Great as a decoration for his summer residence. The project was entrusted to the architect Johann Gottfried Bühring. The protracted construction, begun in 1755 and lasting until 1764, was associated with the Seven Years War .
Built on the sketches of the king himself, the pavilion is a vivid example of the enthusiasm of that era for Chinese-style products, a mixture of Rococo ornamental style elements and East Asian building forms.
The outlines of the Chinese house resemble the shape of a clover leaf . Three rooms adjoin the round hall in the center of the building, which are separated by open verandas. The roof is made in the form of a tent . On the dome is a figure of a Chinese mandarin sitting under an umbrella. The authors of the gilded sculptural groups and individual figures are sculptors Benkert and Heimuller. Inside the house is a collection of Chinese and Japanese porcelain .
