The Alley of Heroes is the compositional axis of Moscow Victory Park .
It is framed by two rows of busts of twice Heroes of the Soviet Union - natives of Leningrad. Their installation was envisaged in the initial design of the park, developed by architects E. I. Katonin , V. D. Kirhoglani , M. A. Shepelevsky and T. B. Dubyago . All six monuments are established in accordance with the Decrees of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR .
A few decades after the opening of the Victory Park on the Alley of Heroes monuments-busts of twice Heroes of Socialist Labor , natives of Leningrad, were erected. In terms of scale, imagery and style, these monuments are a continuation of the complex dedicated to the heroes of the war.
At the beginning of the Alley of Heroes, monuments of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya and Alexander Matrosov were erected. At the initiative of war veterans to the 50th anniversary of the Victory in the center of the Alley of Heroes a monument was erected to Marshal of the Soviet Union G. K. Zhukov . The monument is made in the traditions of social realism .
On May 27, 2010, a bronze bust of the famous Arctic and Antarctic explorer, a major Russian oceanographer, politician Arthur Nikolayevich Chilingarov , Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of the Russian Federation was opened [1] . Sculptor MF Sogoyan.
