He shows a tendency to jazz, but at the same time takes lessons of Azerbaijani national music - mugam - from one of the most popular performers in this genre, Alim Gasimov. The first album of the band “Rast” was released in November 1996 under the same name - “Rast”. In the same year, they also took part in the Radio France International International Competition and became its finalists (out of 365 contestant groups, they were among 11 finalists). In 1998 and 2000, 2 solo concerts of the Rast group took place in the Palace named after G. Aliyev. In 2000, Rast performed a solo concert in Turkey, Germany, Austria, England and the United States. In 1999, vocalist Ilgar Guliyev left the group, and at the end of 2001, Sevda Alekperzade also left the group.
