About the film
Film expert Tamara Sergeeva wrote about the film in “Cinema Studies ” [1] :
“The Queen of Spades” Maslennikov is a discreet and at the same time intonationally expressive story of the Actress (Alla Demidova), which leads us into a kind of “excursion” around Pushkin’s places, starting on a bright, sunny winter day at the Winter Canal and ending there. Pushkin breakdown into chapters, epigraphs - all saved by the director. The story is read by Demidova, the dramatic action is given not so much space. Mystics in this emotionally calm, “balanced”, light “Queen of Spades” are not at all.
According to director Igor Maslennikov, “The Queen of Spades” is his best film [2] .
