Omar Ali Sayfuddin III ( September 23, 1916 - September 7, 1986 ) - Sultan of Brunei from 1950 to 1967 from the Bolkiah dynasty. Since 1947 a member of the State Council. Minister of Defense of Brunei in 1984-1986 .

Biography
Born in the family of Muhammad Jamalul Alam II . Being not the eldest child in the family, he was not perceived as the heir to the throne. After the death of his father, the elder brother Ahmad Tajuddin ascended the throne, who had no heirs. After the death of his brother Omar Ali Saifuddin ascended the throne. During his reign there were several conflicts with the British administration. Circumstances forced him to abdicate in favor of his son, Hassanal Bolkiah . He died on September 7, 1986 .
