Story

Eddie and Simone in the past gave people unrealistic loans to repay and then confiscated the property of the affected debtors. Saw abducts both creditors and sends them to the test, forcing them to feel the same thing as their debtors: they have helmets with steel screws on their heads, which will drill a skull in a minute to someone who puts less weight on the scales of his own body parts. The saw gives both of them sharpened tools to solve the problem. A well-fed Eddie decides to cut a piece of his stomach and puts it on his scales, but Simone cuts off her hand with a cleaver in the last seconds and throws it on the scales, remaining alive and dooming Eddie to death.

The next participant in the Pila games is William Easton, president of Umbrella Health insurance company, who created a formula for calculating the possibility of issuing a policy and insurance - according to it, insurance is issued only to those who are able to bring the company profit, and absolutely does not take into account the will of a person. At one time, John Kramer refused the same company insurance, and Easton himself let slip about the “disadvantage” of such John insurance. Saw decided to get William into the game and make him realize what he had done. Hoffman kidnaps Easton and puts him in a trap, and for the first time Peel appears on the TV screen personally, which gives Will only an hour to complete all the tests, otherwise the shackles on his limbs will explode and he will never see his loved ones again. At the same time, Harold's wife Abbot Tara and son Brand were abducted - Easton had found a reason not to give insurance to Harold Abbot at one time, and Abbot later died of a serious illness. Both are in a cage with a tank with hydrofluoric acid and a switch with the inscription "live or die", but the system for verification is inoperative and the purpose of this device remains unclear.

In parallel, two storylines are developing - the detective Hoffman’s fight with the FBI in the person of Dan Erickson and Lindsey Perez, as well as the story of John’s wife named Jill Tuck, who left her box in the fifth part. The box contains 6 envelopes and a bear trap. The FBI is moving closer to solving the riddle, and the case is complicated by the overly persistent journalist Pamela, who requires an interview with Mark and Jill. She gives Jill a note, found among John's things, but Jill does not want to listen and slams the door. In the end, Mark also abducts Pamela and puts him in exactly the same cage as Harold's family. Hoffman requires Jill to give the envelopes, which she does, leaving herself only the sixth. The FBI finds fingerprints of special agent Stram on the site of the first trap from this part. It would seem that Mark managed to put them on a false track, but Dan and Lindsay find the tape with the record for Seth Baxter - who was executed by Hoffman for killing Mark's sister - and send her to research the voices. Erickson later calls Hoffman and asks to come to the morgue, where he discovers that the pieces in the form of a piece of the “puzzle” from Eddie’s body are cut with the same tool as from Seth Baxter’s body. Then Mark begins to realize that the FBI is aware of something.

During the first test, Will confronts the cleaner Hank, a convinced smoker: with each breath, the vise on the bodies of both people shrink. Hank, whose lungs are weakened due to smoking, cannot stand it and dies. The second test is the choice between two employees: an elderly and seriously ill woman named Eddie, whom her family is very worried about, and a young and healthy Allen, who can be issued a policy, but who does not have any relatives. The second test makes Will think about the priorities, and he saves Eddie’s life, and Allen dies. Will asks Eddie to get out soon and look for help. In the third test, Will must take his lawyer Debbie out of the labyrinth with pipes for a minute and a half, before she was shot by a crossbow mounted on her body. Will leads Debbie through the maze, falling under the burning steam, however, in the photographs at the end of the maze, it is found that the key to the gun is sewn into Will's body. Debbie tries to get the key with a hand saw, but does not have time and dies.

In the fourth test, six people are chained to the carousel - Will called them "bloodhounds" who found errors in policies and used them so as not to pay insurance and save money. Saw says from the screen that Will can save only two people by pressing the buttons and piercing his hands with a pin, and the rest will be killed from the shotgun, but if he hesitates, then everyone will die. Will sees how they give him a nod and slander his colleagues, and yet decides to save two people who were telling the truth. The last person to die, before his death, curses Will, his entire company and the idea of such insurance. Meanwhile, the FBI lab almost finished cleaning the film. Erickson and Perez tell Mark that there is something strange in the prints of the special agent Strum - leaving them, he was already dead. At that moment Mark’s voice from the speakers sounds, which proves that Hoffmann was a saw. Enraged by the fact that he was revealed, Hoffman cuts a throat to Erickson, forces Lindsay Perez to shoot a laboratory employee and then kills Perez herself, despite the fact that she insists that everyone already knows about the true essence of Hoffman. It turned out that Hoffman used Stram’s cut off hand to avert suspicions - he burns the laboratory, leaving again the imprints of Stram, and escapes to the end of Easton’s game.

At the end, Will arrives at the cage room where the family of Harold and Pamela Jenkins, Will's sister, are located. A voice from the screen addresses Harold's wife, saying that Will did a lot to save his family, but did not save Harold, and now the family of the deceased must decide whether to forgive Will. At this point, Will realizes that this is not his game at all. There are disputes between William, Pamela, Tara and Brand: Tara cannot have mercy on Easton, fearing that he will again deprive people of his life, but also can not kill him. The brand, however, is determined and lowers the switch to the "die" position: from the ceiling, the device with needles bites into Easton's body, pouring acid into it, and the former head of Umbrella Health dies in terrible agony.

Meanwhile, Mark discovers a note transmitted from Pamela Jill - a note in which Mark blackmailed Amanda Young and demanded to kill Lynn Denlon . Jill immediately paralyzes Hoffman with a stun gun, ties him to a chair and pulls a bear trap from the box: she explains that John left Mark five envelopes, and the sixth gave Jill with a photo of Hoffman. She puts a trap on Hoffman's head and starts a timer, running away with the words "Game over." Hoffman breaks his arm to get out of the bond, and searches in vain for the key. Finally, he makes the trap get stuck in the bars of the door window, tears his cheek and gets out, bleeding and screaming in horror. Jill's trap was obviously designed to kill Mark, but he survived.
