Biography
At the end of the course at the Moscow Theological Academy was, under the guidance of S. A. Rachinsky , a public teacher. Having taken the post of curator of the Vilnius Public Museum of Antiquities, Milovidov focused his scientific activities on the history, archeography and bibliography of the North-Western Territory .
He has published more than 50 articles in “Readings of the Imperial Society of Russian History and Antiquities”, “Christian Reading”, “Journal of the Ministry of Public Education” , “Russian Herald” and other publications. Consisted of the chairman of the commission of popular readings organized by him.
The archaeographic activity of A.I. Milovidov influenced the development of archival work in the Russian Empire and attracted the interest of publicists in Western Russian antiquities, primarily in written sources. The activities of Milovidov and other prominent archivists of the North-Western Territory of the Russian Empire are studied as part of special courses for future archivists at the History Department of Belarusian State University.
