In 1935, significantly expanding its own borders, the village merged with the village of Davalu and in 1939 officially received the status of the working village of Araratavan. In 1962, by order of the Soviet Government of Armenia, the workers' settlement received city status. City schools celebrate “ International Day of Energy Saving ” with seminars for school teachers. [4] During the Karabakh conflict of 1987-1994. residents of the city sent a unit of military equipment to the border Yeraskhavan : the Kamatsu tractor in an inconceivable steel casing, reminiscent of an alien car from sci-fi films of the 60s. The tractor was equipped with a Degtyarev machine gun during the Second World War . [five]
