Directives
CE mark applied to certified equipment
In July 2006, the European Union adopted standards aimed at protecting people working in explosive areas from explosions.
There are two ATEX directives (one for manufacturers and one for equipment users):
- ATEX 95 equipment directive 94/9 / EC , Equipment and protective systems for use in explosive atmospheres;
- ATEX 137 workplace directive 99/92 / EC, Minimum requirements for explosion protection.
ATEX got its name from the French name of the directive 94/9 / EC: Appareils destinés à être utilisés en AT mosphères EX plosibles . Starting April 20, 2016, the new ATEX Directive 2014/34 / EU comes into force - Equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres
