On August 6, the 3rd Italian army launched an offensive in a strip over 23 km wide from Mount Sabotino , north of Goritsa to the sea. Given the bad experience of previous operations, the offensive was preceded by powerful artillery preparation, which yielded results. The fortifications of the Austro-Hungarian army were destroyed, its batteries were suppressed. By the middle of the day, artillery fire was moved deep into the Austrian defense, and the infantry attacked. The Italians captured the entire massif Sabotino , in the bend of the river (4-5 km north of Goritsy ). The offensive also successfully developed in the next 2 days. On August 8, Italians went ashore Izonzo west of Goritsa . Part of the forces crossed the river, moved up the slopes to Goritsa and captured it. At the same time, east of Isonzo , the Austrians managed to form a new front, according to the dominant heights, as a result of this, on August 10, the attacks of Italians no longer had such success. In the following days, the fighting was fierce, but brought no noticeable result.
On August 17, the Goritsky operation of the Italian troops, called the "Sixth Battle of Isonzo," was completed. The "Sixth Battle of Isonzo" gave the Italian army some results, unlike previous unsuccessful offensives.
