Architecture
The structure of the architectural complex Hala Sultan Tekke includes a mosque, a mausoleum, a minaret and residential buildings (female and male) for servants and pilgrims-dervishes (former inhabitants).
Fragments of a settlement dating from the Bronze Age were discovered to the east of the mosque building during construction. Among the archaeological finds, the Mycenaean ceramics, ivory objects and a lotus-shaped scepter are worth mentioning. In 1978, a treasure with 23 pieces of pure gold was discovered near Hala Sultan Tekke. Found values are exhibited in the Turkish fort in Larnaca.
On the second floor there is a specially separated compartment designed for women. Previously, there was a separate staircase leading directly from the street to the female part. But now Muslim women enter the mosque through the main entrance together with the men and then rise to the place reserved for them.
To the left of the entrance to the garden, decorated with Arabic inscription of the early 19th century, there is one guest house strictly for men, and to the right, another guest house, divided in two, for men and women. The cemetery of the Turkish governors of Larnaca and all of Cyprus is located in the eastern part of the cloister itself.
The mosque was restored in 1959 .
Currently, the mosque is used for Friday prayers and on large Muslim holidays.
