The legend of dragoon

The Legend of Dragoon contains three game modes: world map , field mode and battle mode . On the World Map, you can only move along a strictly defined path (indicated by dashed lines that stretch from one location to another). Field mode is activated when a player enters a city, dungeon or vehicle. It consists of three-dimensional characters placed on a two-dimensional backdrop ( English background ) (the so-called pseudo-three-dimensional dimension). The battle takes place between playable characters and enemies controlled by the artificial intelligence of the console. The player has 5 standard RPG actions available - attack, defense, magic, items, escape, as well as 2 additional options - transformation and special transformation, which will be described below.

Scene

The scene of the game is the fictional continent of Endiness. Four countries are located on it: Cerdio, Tiberoa, Mill Seso and Gloriano. There is also a region called the Death Frontier.

At the beginning of the game, Serdio is divided into the kingdom of Basil and the empire of Sandor, because at that very moment, the country is in a state of civil war.

Tiberoa is a western country bordering Serdio. At its head is the ruling family of King Zior and his two daughters Emil and Lisa. It has a rather hot climate and only a small part of the country is inhabited, and most of its inhabitants have very dark skin.

Mill Ceso is the largest country located on the top of the continent. It was in this country that Dart, Shana, Meru and Miranda were born. The capital of Mill Seso is the city of Deningrad. Once the palace of Deningrad, was part of the city of Winged. The country is quite cold, especially in winter.

Gloriano is the place where Emperor Diaz led people during the Dragon Campaign. In addition, it is here that Darth and his friends meet with Zig, who initially impersonates Diaz.

Death Frontier is a desert region. The only inhabited place here is the city of Krylaty, where the elder sister Melbu Framy Charles talks about certain Spheres and asks the company of Dragoons to protect them.

Dragoons

All playable characters will ultimately receive the so-called Dragoon Spirit . It allows characters to transform into dragon people who are able to command Dragons and use powerful magic. There are many different Spirits of Dragoon, which belong to different elements (elements). Only eight: Light, Fire, Earth, Thunder, Wind, Water, Darkness and vacuum (also known as non-elements). After reincarnation, the character’s characteristics increase significantly, and access to powerful spells that use the character’s MP also appears. However, the character loses the ability to use things, can not defend or escape. A return to normal position is possible only as a result of the fall of the SP counter, victory in the battle or the transition to the status of KO (death, knockout). Only two options are available to the dragoon - Attack and Magic. Addition System for Dragoon does not exist. Instead, an alternative is suggested. When choosing an attack, a small circle appears with a spark running around the circumference. As soon as the light reaches a certain mark, you must click "   "- the light will continue to move, but already faster. Only five times. After that, Dragoon attacks the enemy and strikes him as many times as you pressed "   ". Dragoon’s attacks are very powerful and colorful, and if you don’t make a mistake five times, you can admire the final blow using magic (this blow takes the most HP for the entire attack). You can only use magic in the guise of Dragoon by selecting the Magic command. Each character has his own list of Magic (depending on the nature of the character). Magic requires MP, which can only be restored with the help of things. The higher the level of the character, the longer the list of available magic. The most recent magical attack (80 MP) is the Dragon Challenge. Each character has his own Dragon, which can be summoned during the battle. The dragon is unplayable, it only attacks the enemy, causing tremendous damage and pleasing the eye with a real light show.

Additions

An additional combat system ( The Additions combat system ) was first put into practice in the Legend of Dragoon - it was a real revolution in the standard combat system. However, this system was subjected to great criticism - the players simply did not have time to press the buttons in time, especially closer to the end of the game, where the Add-ons became more complex and required a lot of reaction. After the character receives the Dragoon Spirit , additions are necessary for him to transform - they add spirit points (SP, Eng. Spirit Points ), allowing you to transform into Dragoon.

The system of additions is as follows. During the battle, the player selects the Attack action. The hero, as in the usual RPG, runs towards the enemy, and at this time 2 squares appear - large and small. The large square, decreasing, coincides with the small square exactly at the moment the hero’s sword hits the enemy. The player must react and press the button "   ", Then the hero will continue the attack. This will continue until the player makes a mistake or until all blows provided by the system are over. Thus it is possible to produce quite beautiful and elegant combinations. The character receives an addition upon reaching a certain level. The more powerful the addition, the more hits it is included in and the more difficult it is to complete them (the very first addition includes only 2 hits). The choice between various Add-ons is carried out in the character menu ("   "- Additions). Supplements, as well as characters, can be pumped, and the level of Additions increases not proportionally to the level of the hero - it all depends on how many successful blows were delivered using this Supplement. Each character has a Master Addition - an add-on that is given after leveling up to at least 80 (that is, before successful completion 80 times) of all other additions.

Things

Items in Legend of Dragoon are of the same type as in other RPGs. They have a wide range of applications: from healing potions to “combat items”. Items can be bought from merchants in the cities of the game, found in chests, won in battles. It should be noted that you can not take with you more than 32 items of ordinary things and 250 weapons.

Multipliers

In addition to ordinary items, The Legend of Dragoon has so-called Multiple use items . These are special combat items that summon attack magic. They are present in the inventory, like ordinary things, they can also be used in battle in the same way. But between them and ordinary things there is a significant difference - after using such a thing on the opponent in the lower right corner of the screen appears the image of the button “   "And the counter in percent (initially 100%). Interest will increase, and with it the damage done by this thing. After the end of the action, the percentages are added up, and the thing does some damage to the enemy, more than the maximum possible damage that such a thing would do if it were not a multiplier. With proper dexterity, damage can be brought up to 240%.

Stardust

Stardust is an extremely useful item with which you can get a few rare and powerful items. Prizes you will receive for every 10 Stardust you find. Prizes can be obtained from a woman named Mattel, whom you will meet at a bar in Fletz.

This continued until the Dragoons appeared - people who subjugated the dragons and started the war against the Winged. In a fierce battle, other races won, the Winged were overthrown, and the Dragons and Dragoons were forgotten ... And the 108 species was Virage Embrio , also known as the God of Destruction . He desired to destroy the world - all other 107 species. Knowing how the other races hate the Winged, he offered people help in the fight against them. The confrontation resulted in the most bloody war in Endines history - the Dragon Campaighn . During the battle for Kadessa, the capital of the Winged, an end to their dominion on the planet, and Kadessa herself died. But the surviving Winged, learning about Embryo, decided to destroy it. They defeated the God of Destruction, and, separating his soul from his body, imprisoned him in a crystal ball. And this ball was sent to the moon, which never sets. Five seals protected him. One was in the ruins of Cadessa. The other is in the capital Mille Seseo, Deningrad. The third is in the magical city of Aglis (city of miracles). The fourth is in Zenebatos, the city of laws. And the fifth is at Mayfill, the border between life and death ...

Dart Feld is the main character in the game. Age - 23 years. Blond. Darth is one of several survivors of the Black Beast attack on the village of Neet. After this incident, he ended up in the village of Seles, where his life continued in a normal environment. He spent his childhood near Shana, which he later left, as he went in search of the Black Monster. Finding nothing and bored around the house, Darth returns and finds out about the destruction of Celes, and that Shana went to Hellen's prison ( Eng. Hellena Prison ). Darth rushes to save her. This is where his adventures begin. His weapon is a sword. First, he received the spirit of a fiery dragoon, and at the end of the game his father took him from him, and Darth tried on the spirit of non-elements.

Lavitz Slumbert is the head of the 1st Chivalry of the Kingdom of Bazile. Serves his king Albert Indels, is a childhood friend of the king and his martial arts mentor. However, in one of the battles with the Sandora empire, the Lavitz chivalry was completely destroyed, and he himself was captured and placed in Hellen's prison. Albert Indels - King of Basil. After the death of Lavitz, he replaces him with himself in the company of Darth, receives his Spirit of Dragoon. He travels incognito with Darth, initially aiming to end the war with the Sandor empire. To do this, the heroes go to her capital to kill the emperor Doel, who belongs to Albert's paternal uncle. When Albert was 6 years old, Doel killed King Carlo, his brother and father Albert, considering him unworthy of the throne. Albert's weapon is a spear.

Rose is the woman who saved Darth at the very beginning of the game from the dragon. Is a Dragoon of Darkness and the same Black Monster. Her weapon is a broadsword (rapier). In the distant past, she and former dragoons, among whom was Darth's father, Sieg, fought with the Winged in the last battle of Cadessa 11 thousand years ago before the events described. One-on-one Sieg encountered the ruler of the Winged, dictator Melbu Frahma, who possessed a terrible weapon - the Buster sword ( English Dragon Buster ). In a difficult battle, Sieg defeated the Winged Dictator, but he managed to hit him with his sword and transferred his soul to the body of Dragoon. Zig's body has been petrified for centuries ...

Shana is an 18-year-old girl living in the village of Seles. He is a childhood friend of Darth. Shana is the dragoons of Light, and she is also the Lunar Child sent to Earth to crack down on the Black Monster. Very kind and shy, but no weaker than the rest of the Dragoons. Owns onions. Dart did not immediately fall in love with Shana, but initially did not think about feelings and considered her his "sister." The lunar child marks the birth of 108 species that will destroy the whole world. The winged ones, having learned that the 108th species will destroy the whole world, shared his body with the soul, since then every 108 years a black monster destroys the embodiment of the Lunar child. The black monster is a defender of the world, as well as a dragoon who participated in the Dragon War.

Hashel is an elderly mentor at the Martial Arts School, Thunder Dragoons. His daughter, Claire, ran away from her father because he did not allow her to live an ordinary life, he brought her up in his school. Most interesting is Claire's mother, Darth. Darth was familiar with his grandfather for a long time, but they both do not know about the relationship. In battle, Hashel relies on fists.

Meru is a funny girl who accidentally joined this fun company. Meru is a representative of the proud winged race, as well as the Dragoons of Water. Unlike other representatives of his race, he loves people. Often says smart nonsense, very lively and curious. Fights with a hammer.

Congol is a giant that Doel found as a child. At first I wanted to kill Darth and his friends, but then it turned out that he also found his place in the company. He fights with an ax, is the Dragoon of the Earth.

Miranda is one of the four holy sisters of Mill Seseo. These same sisters play the role of princesses there, they were all raised by the ruler of the country, Queen Teresa. Miranda is one of the most eccentric and quick-tempered sisters. Perhaps her parents, who once left their daughter, are to blame? At the end of the third chapter, he replaces Shana in the company, whose Dragoon spirit unexpectedly left the former owner and transferred to Miranda. In battle, owns a bow.

Minor Characters

Doel is King Albert's paternal uncle. 20 years before the events described, he killed his brother and father Albert, King Carlo, after which he took the throne in the city of Casasa, making it the unofficial capital of Serdio. The country was divided into two halves - North and South. The southern part, the possessions of Doel, was called Sandora (the capital city of Casas), the North - Basil (the capital in Beila). For the past 20 years, an endless war has been going on between the two countries ... He is the main antagonist of the first part of the game.

Lloyd is winged, trying to create his utopian world with the help of lunar objects (but being only a puppet in the hands of Melbu Fram). In the first part of the game, Lloyd kills Levitz (Darth's best friend), after which Lloyd becomes Darth's archenemy. After defeating the divine dragon, Lloyd gets his soul stone, but does not become a dragoon himself. In the last battle, Lloyd tries to take revenge on Melba Fram, but dies from the powerful magic of demigods. Before death, he passes the soul stone of the divine dragon to Darth.
