Guillermo Navarro ( Spanish: Guillermo Navarro ; born 1955 , Mexico City ) - Mexican cameraman and director. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Cinematography in the film The Labyrinth of the Fauna .

Biography

Born in 1955 in Mexico City [4] . At 13, he became interested in photography and enrolled in seminars held in high school [5] . After school, he studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico at the Faculty of Sociology [5] . He started his career by filming documentaries in Mexico, after which he decided to move to London , from which he soon left due to the rules restricting his chances of working [5] . He moved to Paris, where cameraman Ricardo Aranovich became his mentor [5] . Since 1994, lives in the United States [5] , becoming a member of the American Society of Cameramen [6] in 2000.
