Career

Jose Augusto Brandão was born into the family of Horacio and the Sitting of Brandao [2] . While still young, José and his family moved to São Paulo [2] . He began his career at the Barra Funda Club from his home state of São Paulo in 1927 [2] . In 1931, Brandao moved to Juventus, where he played 2 seasons without much brilliance. In 1933-1934 he performed at the “Portugal”, in the first season the club with Brandao as part of it won the bronze medals of the state championship , and the next year repeated the success. The play of Jose Augusto attracts the attention of the grand, Corinthians, which lures a football player in 1935. Brando spent 11 years at Corinthians, playing 298 matches and scoring 11 goals [3] and winning 4 Sao Paulo state championships. For a long time was the captain of the team [3] . He was also involved in the national team, for which he spent 16 matches in 7 years and even goes to the 1938 World Cup in France , where he played only one game with the Swedish team (4: 2) [3] , according to other sources, he was also on field in the match with Czechoslovakia [1] , won the bronze medal. In 1946, Brandao ended his career.

After completing his career as a player, Brandao bought, along with other players, Teleco and Pascolliano, a bar in Vila Mariana. But after only a few months he sold it [1] . José Augusto died on July 12, 1987 at 14:30 in the São Paulo Hospital [1] . July 13, he was buried in the cemetery of Araca in São Paulo [1] .

Personal life

Brandao married on December 12, 1928, Maria de Lourdes (she died in 1968). The wedding ceremony was held in Sao Paulo. They had five children: Jose Aroldo (1931), Maria de Lourdes (1933), Jose Cprlos (1936), Luis Roberto (1946) and Maria Cecilia (1960) [1] . Jose Aroldo died already in 1934 [1] . Daughter Maria de Lourdes died at the age of 13 from leukemia [1] .
