In 2000, the 52nd season of MotoGP road racing was held.

Season Summary
Kenny Roberts, Jr. won the 2000 championship for 2 races to the end. This season, Valentino Rossi made his debut in the royal class, who crashed in the first two races of the season, as well as in Valencia , but despite this he managed to win the championship silver with 2 wins and 8 podiums and, of course, became the best newcomer. Harry McCoy won 3 victories.
For last year's champion Alex Crivillier, the season was a complete disappointment with the disease and the new Honda NSR500 motorcycle, difficult to manage.
