Biography
In 1878 , when Schultz was in his twentieth year, he decided to settle among the Pikuni Indians , members of the Blackfoot Confederation. Schultz lived with the Pikuni Indians for over 15 years. Having married in 1879 the Indian Indian Ne-ta-ki, Schulz henceforth lived in the interests of a tribe that called him Ap-i-kun-i . His son, Hart, Merriam Schulz, aka Na-ta-ma-i, or The Lone Wolf (1882–1970), was brought up like all Indian children [1] . Subsequently, he became a famous artist. Until the death of Ne-ta-ki in 1903, James Willard Schulz lived with the black-footed animals on their reservation in Alberta , Canada.
Schulz is the author of 40 novels and stories dedicated to the Indians, works of art unsurpassed in their truthfulness and knowledge of Indian life. Selected works: “The Error of the Lone Bison”, “With the Indians in the Rocky Mountains”, “The Eagle Catcher”, “The Son of the Navajo Tribe”, “My Life Among the Indians”, “Dangerous Path”.
