Calendar 2008/09
On July 12, the organizers of the GP2 series announced a calendar for the second season. Unlike the first season of GP2 Asia, this season began before the new year, and there will be six weekends instead of five. The stage in Indonesia was canceled, while Bahrain is already receiving the second stage and Shanghai will receive its stage. Shanghai also took pre-season tests of GP2 Asia. [28]
The sprint of the second stage of the championship at the Dubai Autodrome was canceled due to flooding. [29] .
On December 17, a change was made to the championship schedule; instead of the February stage in Dubai, a stage was added to the Losal highway (track) in Qatar . The stage was rescheduled for February 12-14, as MotoGP tests took place on the scheduled days. This stage was also the first night in the history of GP2, following MotoGP and support classes , as well as after the Formula 1 night race in Singapore . [thirty]
