The Russian Korean historian A.N. Lankov in his article written in 1992 and later slightly revised gives the following characteristics of the newspaper [2] :
The first and second pages of this newspaper usually contain messages from Kim Il Sung from abroad and his own official telegrams and articles on the economic successes of Korea. There you can read reports on visits of foreign delegations, articles on the greatness of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il . The third page is primarily economic in nature, while the fourth is filled with chronicle notes and essays on various topics. The last pages are an international section. Almost all notes on international topics either talk about the achievements of the economies of developing countries, or criticize US foreign policy. A special section, which usually occupies the fifth page, is devoted to South Korea . The intonation of the newspaper’s articles on various issues, of course, is the same as that of all North Korean propaganda: praise of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, harsh, almost hysterical criticism of the United States and South Korea, glorification of the economic achievements of the DPRK (in the vast majority of cases - imaginary) , propaganda of Juche ideas and stories about their great popularity around the world.
