Amphibious boats of the LCU-1610 type are used by amphibious forces of the US Navy for transporting equipment and marines from amphibious ships to the coast, as well as for carrying out humanitarian operations.

LCU-1610 for 2008 are one of the largest landing craft.
Landing boats LCU-1610 can be operated on amphibious ships of the types "Tarawa" (four boats LCU-1610), "Wosp" (4 boats), "Whidbey Island" (3) and San Antonio (2 boats) LCU-1610).
Boats LCU-1610 have a nose ramp for loading / unloading assault cargo and can carry up to 180 tons of cargo from one landing ship to the shore, or 2 main battle tanks M1 or 3 BMP M2 "Bradley" , or up to 400 people landing.
