In the village, the spring of Paraskeva Fridays beats, therefore, in the old days, the ninth Sunday after Easter (Nines) was especially revered - holy memory [3] [4] .
Content
History
The village was first mentioned in salary books of 1676 as part of the Nevadevsky parish ; it contained a court of clerks, 27 peasant households and 1 Bobyl [5] .
In the late XIX - early XX centuries, the village was part of the Kazakovsky volost of the Murom district of Vladimir province , since 1926 - as part of the Novoselsky volost . Stepanovo 1st and Stepanovo 2nd differed. In 1859 [6] there were 81 yards in the village, in 1905 [7] - 106 yards, in 1926 [8] - 173 yards.
Since 1929, the village was the center of the Stepanovsky village council of the Vachsky district of the Gorky region , since 1936 - as part of the Gorky region , since 1954 - as part of the Zelentsovsky village council , and since 1973 - as part of the Kazakovsky village council .

Famous Natives
- Grandmother Nadezhda Shutova - treated with herbs, rules for dislocations, fractures. Her relative Anastasia Vygovskaya, 82 years old, tells the story of her like this: “The post-war years were very difficult. Hope remained a widow with two children. She worked on a collective farm. Somehow, relatives from Kazakov went to Moscow to get food and took it. There, at least you could buy millet, flour, salt. In Moscow, they accidentally came to the Matron of Moscow . To her there was already a stream of people. When Nadezhda arrived, Matrona immediately told her that you would treat people yourself. ” And so it was. Nadezhda first treated relatives, and then, when the rumor went around the lump, many sick people reached out to her. The rumor about her gift spread throughout the district. They came from far away. There were no cars then, so there was always a sled or a cart near the house - someone had arrived. The son of grandmother Nadezhda - Shutov Nikolay Mikhailovich [11] .
- Lunin, Victor Nikolaevich - Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region (since 2007 ). Born in Styopanovo ( 1948 ) [12] .
- Shutov, Semyon Ivanovich - Hero of the Soviet Union, senior sergeant ( 1911 - 1983 ), was born in Stepanovo. Several years after the end of World War II he lived and worked as a carpenter in Stepanovo [13]
