From History
Around 1706, Emperor Peter I gave Boris Petrovich Sheremetev, along with other land dachas, forest land in Gorbatov Uyezd near the border with Murom Uyezd for special merits. Davydovo appeared around 1714-1715, when B.P.Sheremetev settled there 12 forest guards, who initially lived in dugouts. [3]
Davydovo was delimited in 1850 into 12 plots, the main possessions belonged to Praskovya Kirillovna Pestel and Count Dmitry Nikolaevich Sheremetev. [four]
In Davydov there was a Dalne-Davydovsky nunnery, the appearance of which was predicted by Seraphim of Sarov in 1785. The monastery began with a female community formed in 1845 by Neonilla Borisovna Zakharova, about whom Serafim Sarovsky also said the prophecy: "She will be to the people to ridicule, and the Queen of Heaven to worship." The community was supremely approved with the blessing of the Holy Synod (i.e. officially recognized) in 1858. On August 20, 1886, at the request of the Bishop of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas Bishop Modest, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church erected a Dalne-Davydovskiy female community in a hostel monastery. On the territory of the monastery were two churches:
- Cathedral Church in the Name of the Icon of the Mother of God "Satisfy My Sorrows"
- Church in the name of "All Saints"
These buildings have survived to this day. At the time of the formation of the community in 1845, there were 10 sisters in it; in 1858, at the time of recognition, the community numbered 44 sisters; in 1907 there were already 209 sisters in the community. At the time of the closure of the monastery in 1927-28, there were about 150 people. [5] In 2000, the cathedral church in the name of the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary “Satisfy My Sorrows” was restored.
Also in Davydov there was a church in the name of the Nativity of Christ (Church of the Nativity of Christ), built in 1813 and closed in 1937. In June 1959, the church was destroyed: first, with steel cables hooked up to caterpillar tractors, the school was dumped; then the walls were destroyed by powerful explosive charges. In 2009, on the site of the church on the donations of Valery Pavlovich Anisimov, a worship cross was installed. [6]
In Soviet times, there was a collective farm "Peredovik" in Davydov.
