Biography
By origin - a Greek from the Duk clan, grew up in the house of the Moldavian ruler Vasily Lupu .
For the first time he became the Lord of Moldova after the death of Eurasia Dabija in September 1665 . In 1668 , after the reign of Alexander Ilyash , he regains the throne with great difficulty. Duca owed a lot of money to buy a second gospel, and overlaid the country with exorbitant taxes. In October 1671, the uprising of Mikhalchi Hincu began, suppressed in 1672 with the help of the Turks and Tatars. In the same year, Duca was removed, and several rulers were replaced on the Moldavian throne, until he again seized power in 1678 .
According to the Russian-Turkish world in 1681 , George Duque was given the title of hetman of Ukraine. In April 1683, on the instructions of the Turks, he was sent to Vienna , and the Moldavian boyars at that time arranged a conspiracy and proclaimed Gospodar Stefan Petrichika . Duca was captured on his return to Moldova on December 25, 1683 and sent to Poland, where he died in prison in 1685 .
Family
Duca was married to Anastasia, daughter of Dafina, wife of Moldavian ruler Eustatia Dabija (1661-1665). His son was Constantin Duca , the ruler of Moldavia (1693–1695, 1700–1703).
