Story
In the provincial town of Mordasov comes the old rich prince K.
One of the local ladies, Marya Aleksandrovna Moskaleva, seeks to marry her daughter Zina. Thus, Marya Alexandrovna wants to erase in Mordovian society the memory of the unsuccessful romance of Zina and the teacher of her younger brother.
At first, Zina, who resisted, still agrees to participate in the intrigue of her mother.
However, the cunning plan of Marya Alexandrovna was destroyed by Mozglyakov, rejected by the contender for Zina’s hand, who assured the half-witted prince that his matchmaking to the girl was just a dream.
Filming
The shooting of street scenes of the film took place in Vologda [1] . Moskalyova’s house became the so-called “Barsh House” at 101 Embankment of the 6th Army. The exterior of the city theater was the significantly decorated house No. 129 on the same street next to the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the city gossipers arranged carriage rides on Kremlin Square on the background of the Church of Alexander Nevsky (at the meeting of the heroines Smirnova and Mordyukova with the ladies of society on Kremlin Square, however, their carts move from the intersection of Predtechenskaya and Sovetskaya streets against the background of the Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist in Roschene).
