Story

The film tells the story of a married couple. Marfa Petrovna works at the research institute as a deputy director and is really passionate about her work. She is courageous, businesslike, energetic and used to command. She is trying to apply the same type of behavior in life.

Her husband tried to reassure her once, but without any success. He himself is humble, awkward, spineless, and likely to remain so forever. The couple’s family boat is leaking, and things are slowly moving toward a divorce.

In addition, the wife has a fan - he is ardent and admires the beauty of Martha Petrovna. She is trying to change herself in order to please him even more. Her husband also notes such changes - his wife becomes softer.

Interesting Facts

  • The motto of a foreign company at the exhibition is the expression "You to me, I to you." In 1976, Alexander Sery made a film with the same name and also with Leonid Kuravlev in the title role. At the same time, when a representative of the company points to the logo, we see the inscription "Manus manum lavat" (lat. "Hand wash his hand").
  • In fact, the script of the film was written by Alexander Seryi himself, but in the absurd system of Soviet cinema, he was forced to hide it by rewriting the author’s name on his wife, Maria Akopova.
